Choosing the Right Repair Shop
Choosing the right repair shop.
Choosing the right repair shop for your auto repair is of the utmost importance. You have invested thousands into your vehicle and taking the time to carefully choose a repair shop is a critical step in caring for your investment.
One of the first things I always tell to clients is to ask people you know for recommendations for auto repair. Some of the best shops can be found by word of mouth as they often have a great reputation and thrive on client referral. When a shop is doing high quality work people will remember and they will tell their friends and family. If you are finding that the same one or two shops are being recommended to you then I would take the time to go down to the shops, look around and ask some questions.
When it comes to figuring out if it is a quality shop or not, I always look at the level of organization in the shop and regarding the tools. One of the biggest red flags is when a shop has cluttered and disorganized tools. Equipment should always be neatly put away and should be organized. The best auto shops are those that are well organized. This shows the customer that they take care of their own equipment and will care for your vehicle.
When bringing your vehicle in you want to make sure all the mechanics and technicians are knowledgeable and are able to provide you with technical information regarding your vehicle. After they inspect your vehicle, the mechanic should come to you with a summary of what they have found and should be able to explain all of the technical information to you so that you have a good sense of what needs to be repaired or replaced with your vehicle.
After the mechanics or technicians explain what needs repair or replacement with your automobile, a detailed estimate should be provided. Do not accept an estimate that is vague or is confusing. If you have questions on the estimate you should ask right away. One thing that is often difficult for the average vehicle repair customer is figuring out if they are given an affordable price or not. My recommendation is to get a copy of the estimate and call other repair shops in the area to get a ballpark idea of how much your repair should be costing you. If you’re finding that the initial estimate is too high or suspiciously cheap then I would find another repair shop for your vehicle. The key is that it is an affordable price for the level of repair that you are receiving.
You should also be given information about the warranty on parts you are receiving. It is best to decline parts and service that does not come with a warranty. A warranty is the best way that you, as a customer, can protect yourself from bad parts or a faulty repair job.
In order to make sure the shop has enough experience to work on your particular vehicle you should ask how many cars of your make and model they service regularly. If they are familiar with your vehicle then they will better be able to serve you. Experience is the key when it comes to auto repairs. If you have a unique vehicle then you should look for a shop that specializes in that particular make and model.
The final critical thing when choosing the right shop for your automobile is to determine if your mechanic is honest and reliable. Nothing is worse than a vehicle that is taking much longer than the estimated repair time or being surprised by last minute repairs on your vehicle. An honest and reliable mechanic will thoroughly inspect your vehicle the first time in order to find the needed repair. They will also have your vehicle done in the time frame that was given in your estimate. Advance auto repairs has been given a 5 star rating by our customers call Mel 4072038838.
