Auto Fluid Services
Auto Fluid Services
Fluid service for vehicles consists of either topping off or replacing the specific fluid in one of the several tanks or cylinders that are located either under the hood or underneath the car itself. Proper fluid service maintenance is essential to avoid any major vehicle problems as well as to make the vehicle last longer and run more efficiently.
The greatest benefit and advantage of maintaining proper oil level is so that the engine has enough oil to function safely and to enhance its performance. But just having enough oil in the engine is not enough. A regular oil change is absolutely necessary so that the oil is as clean as possible and free from contaminants and dirt that are a natural byproduct when a vehicle engine is in operation. Clean oil simply makes the engine run better. Most automotive experts recommend changing the oil every 3,000 miles with the appropriate grade of oil.
Coolant Flush and Fill
A coolant flush and fill is an automotive procedure where the antifreeze/coolant mixture in the vehicle’s radiator is drained, flushed and refilled with brand new coolant/antifreeze. Similar to changing the oil, when the coolant is changed on a regular schedule, it keeps the motor running at its peak efficiency. Different automotive gurus have different recommendations on the mileage intervals when the coolant should be changed, but changing the coolant every 10,000 miles in general is a smart idea.
The transmission contains fluid just like the engine. It’s just a different kind of fluid. Getting regular transmission service mainly means to have the transmission fluid drained and replaced with the proper amount and type of new transmission fluid. The mechanic has to drain the old fluid from beneath the car because it’s stored inside the transmission pan or housing. Transmission fluid helps the transmission function properly and keep the transmission clean as well and also prevents it from overheating like the oil in an engine does or the coolant in a radiator does.
Transmission Filter Replacement
In addition to transmission fluid changes, it’s also essential to have a regularly scheduled transmission filter replacement even if the car is not having any transmission problems. Changing the filter helps keep the transmission clean. It’s intelligent to change the transmission fluid every 15,000 miles or so.
Brake Fluid Flush
A brake fluid flush helps keep the braking system working most effectively and safely. The brake fluid tank can be found under the engine and it’s a smart idea to let a professional automotive technician flush the brake fluid because if it’s done wrong, air can get into the brake system and that can be dangerous.
